How to Crochet a Crescent & Star
Are you a crocheter who is searching for a nice simple pattern for a crescent moon and star but all the patterns you find for free are simply not good enough? Well search no more, here is a pattern that allows you to alter the size of both the moon and star with ease. Get your hook and get ready … it only take minutes to complete!
NOTES Before You Begin
*Be sure to use the same size hook for both appliques (unless you want the proportions to be different).
*Using a larger hook than what is mentioned in this pattern will increase the size of the appliques.
*Using a smaller hook and thinner yarn that what is mentioned in this pattern will decrease the size of the appliques.
*You will need to block and/or shape the appliques when done to ensure the shapes are proper and to your liking. Let’s get started.
G hook – worsted weight yarn (use this combination or hook and yarn to get medium sized appliques like shown in the picture above)
Round 1: start with a slip circle, ch1, 9sc inside the circle, pull tight, slip stitch in first sc
Point 1: ch3, sl st in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next st, hdc in next st, you are now back at the circle you started from, skip 1 sc, sl st in next st
Repeat instructions for Point 1 for the next 4 points, finish off and weave in the tail.
Shape the 5 points so they stand amd point evenly around the starting circle. Block if needed/desired.
